Lumix G9 uses the Depth From Defocus Technology (DFD). Panasonic kept upgrading their cameras via firmware and DFD became much better. But the truth is that it is still behind other cameras that use Phase Detection autofocus. Even those expensive cameras struggle to capture images of birds in flight or behind tree branches. Well my Panasonic camera was able not only to catch a fast Hawk (Lesser Kestrel) in flight but the bird was also behind tree branches! Of course the image is not usable...
I suspect that my Lumix G9 is a troll...
